Guest speaker, Rev. Audrey Gonzalez is a native Memphian, who is the first ordained woman of the Anglican Church in Uruguay. Her work included assisting prisoners, those terminally ill with HIV and the most vulnerable and impoverished on the streets. Audrey is an artist, author, avid gardener and award winning floral competitor. She is Assistant Pastor at Calvary Episcopal Church. She has a downtown street ministry and has been heavily involved as chaplain of the girls’ prison ministry. Her efforts for CASA (Court Appointed Special for Children) led her to another passion. Audrey reorganized the Shelby County Foster Care system and last year, the Center was named for her. Our 2012 princess, Graycen Ann Beardslee, of Sikeston, Missouri has a rare, genetic disease called, Xeroderma Pigmetosum (extreme sensitivity to the damaging effects of UV light). TTS is making arrangements to help Graycen emotionally with XP camp and special orthodontic care. Solar Tech is donating UV protection for their car. Our event sponsor, Moonshine Lighting, promises to ‘enlighten’ us in a special way in Graycen’s honor.
Melodie Moore, our beloved and internationally acclaimed harpist, is Director of Special Music for the Tiara Tea Society. She is joined by Amanda Woodward Boyd (internationally accomplished lyric soprano) and Luke Hefner, (Senior Vocal Performance major with the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at Uof M). Ms. Boyd was awarded the coveted Elizabeth and Harold Robinson Scholars and Fellows Fund; first prize in the Memphis Beethoven Club Vocal Competition and awarded the prestigious Charles Riecker Memorial Scholarship. Mr. Hefner placed first in the N.A.T.S Musical Theatre Open Division last year. They will be treating TTS members and guests to a taste of ‘Phantom of the Opera.’ Please join us for another event to be remembered. Thank you for your support!
